Wednesday Write Togethers – Summertime Vibes
Music-Inspired creative writing for wellbeing that celebrates summer– free to attend throughout August
The fun and often poignant connections we’ve been building in our creativity-fuelled Wednesday Write Togethers over this past month continue. August’s workshops are designed to celebrate summer and use the joy music awakens in us to inspire our voice on and off the page.
From using music to foster forgotten parts of yourself to painting how music makes us feel – we've four writing sessions that harness summertime vibes and music to inspire your writing and foster feelings of summer fun and wellbeing.
5th August – Virtual Holiday Conjuring Summertime Dreams
A virtual mixtape of the songs that gets you in the holiday mood, we will create the holiday of our dreams and give it a song title too.
12th August – Finding Forgotten Parts Through Music
Explore how different music makes you feel and actively fostering a forgotten part of yourself you’re ready to nurture.
19th August – Let’s Dance
Grab a favourite tune that makes you want to dance, let’s make lyrics David Bowie style. Psst, no need to be a musician (I'm certainly not!). It's a human right to enjoy music however feels good to you.
Additional equipment: Sheets of paper ready to write on and tear up. Optionally some glue and scissors.
26th August – Painting How Music Makes Us Feel
Ever felt a colour when you hear a song, or a texture when you see a shade of blue? That's synaesthesia – a real cross-wiring of the senses, more common among neurodivergent folk (although sadly not me). Whether you naturally create these associations or not, we'll spend this session fostering cross-sensory connections together.
Additional equipment: Useful to have watercolours handy, but any colouring pens and pencils will do.
